When I started to study again two decades after I had been at college, I had a learning curve to climb! Nothing was quite the same as when we used pen and paper. Libraries were the same.

Now nothing is the same again as online study classes take over in hybrid colleges, libraries are online, and paper gets relegated further into history. The funny thing there is that actual paper is longer lasting than CDs and DVDs or memory sticks. They keep getting outdated and useless, but paper just isn't as accessible Much of my early research was carefully backed up to 3.5-inch floppy disks! There are ways of transferring it of course. So, keeping up to date is part of the job as a researcher and part of the fun!

How do we keep up to date? Online libraries, online archives, online colleges, and online conferences. What would we do without the internet? We back our own work up on OneDrive or Dropbox or Google... We can share files with a link in various apps.

How do we keep up to date with IDEAS? CONCEPTS? RESEARCH?

Sharing in conferences is a way of keeping up with ideas, letting them percolate ideas into our thinking. Open up ways to find your own research project. Join in their online conferences if you cannot get there in person. I wish I could attend the EPTA conference in Poland in person, but while I have caring responsibilities at home, I dare not go so far away yet. I have attended most conferences since 2004 when they made me the Secretary! Opportunities to serve others abound! It is marvellous that we don't have to miss out totally: online hybrid conferences are possible. The only difficulty then is choosing which conference to attend! Try this one to start with!
