Have you started a new academic year? On-site now! Person to person? How exciting... real people to meet... BUT are you ready for the study part of student life?
In updating this blog I'll continue to emphasise that I can help you!
So often first years arrive full of enthusiasm but not ready to tackle assignments. My husband remembers his first term; it dawned on him by the third week - far too late- that he had to produce assignments and even submit them for marking. In those days it was every week, not once a term! None of them even counted for the final mark yet had to be done. He was in Dyer need -dire need of help!
TODAY we sail along thinking deadlines are December or even January. No worries. Play some more video games. Make new friends. Dire trouble awaits you! Yes, make friends but don't waste time. Yes play a few games to relax but only for half an hour, not half a day!
Theology students most likely include mature students, starting a second career. This group needs help to restart the journey.

Often, those more mature students among you, think that working from home, or college is different to working in the office or hospital ward. There'll be more time -will there? Yes, it's different but still time-consuming and you are under your own self-discipline to work on the assignments. It is part of being trained to be an independent worker - a future minister or pastor for instance.
So this is the Autumn term/ semester. You need to recall those Study Skills. May I offer you some assistance? I can go through my study skills series with you one by one, in a one to one zoom session if you like. I could ask that you get a few of you together and I will answer your questions on how to cope with the course, time management, grammar, computer skills for formatting assignments, all sorts of issues you barely dreamt of when you first applied. Second year and even third year students also need to remind themselves of these issues.
Dear Students -What is your DIRE need right now? Let me assist you! If you don't need help maybe others you know might; please, pass my name on to them. There is a charge per hour but that is because I am now freelance at this after 20 years in an academic environment.
Please contact me adyerdon@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from previous and NEW students.
